Happy Hippy Time
81It's all in good fun, this happy hippy fantasy is one in a series of fun times stories with hubber friends, the first of which was written by our hubber buddy "always exploring", aka Ruby. She wrote about a hillbilly, rootn tootn good time. The second story was written by Martie Coetser. She took us dancing with white lions. Now it's my turn to take us on a psychedelic trip! Far out, man!
A Story of Woodstock
It was during the dog days of August, 1969 and the buzz was all about a peace concert in upstate New York near a little town called Woodstock. Ruby dialed my phone number soon as she got the news .
"Fossi, have you heard about the groovy concert? Let's split and make the scene," she tried to sway me, "We gotta do something cool before school starts back in the fall."
I was worried what my parents might say, they always warned me about Ruby, said she was a wild child, flower girl. I envied her free spirit. You always knew where you stood with her, she didn't hold back what she was thinking or feeling.
"I don't know Ruby, my parents will kill me if I just take off, and you know what they would say if I dared ask for their permission!" I groaned.
"Bumber, you don't know what you're gonna miss, man!" she teased me with her cool talk, "Are you sure you don't wanna come along? Your favorite rock star stud is gonna be there, lllliivve, in concert!"
"Far out, no way," I shouted with exuberance.
I had never in my young life been to a live concert. To actually see my dream boat Jimmi H. live on stage would blow my mind. I decided right then and there I would gladly pay the price just to see him strum that twangy guitar to "Foxy Lady"! What could my parents do to me anyway. They would likely ground me when I got back home, but I didn't care. It was time I broke out of the mold and do something daring. Little did I know it would turn out to be the cultural musical event of the century!
"When do we split?" I asked my good friend.
"Leave it up to me, I'll make all the arrangements," she replied.
"What about the girls?," I inquired, referring to our best buds, Martie, Nell and Erin.
"They're in like flynn, baby," she assured me.
"Groovy, my friend," I responded to that great news.
My parents liked Martie and we had been neighbors with Nell's family ever since we were little kids. My parents and hers spent time together on a regular basis. With Nell coming along, I figured if I got in trouble she'd be there to support me and maybe they wouldn't be as angry. Erin's family had just moved in to town so my distrusting parents had no preconceived negative notions about her.
The day had arrived and Epi showed up at Ruby's house where we had decided would be a safe place to meet. He wore a red bandanna around his head that was tied in the back with a long tail. His pants were blue and white stripped and tucked into them was a yellow paisley shirt. He looked groovy psychedelic and wore a big grin from ear to ear. Epi had a special liking for the ladies and was in his glory to be in our company, five to his one. Ruby's parents let her do anything she wanted so it was no big deal when he showed up in the peace buggy painted with wild colors and peace signs all over it. We all piled in saying our good-byes.
"Have a good time kids," Ruby's parents called out waving good-bye, "Don't do anything we wouldn't do!"
"We will," Ruby joked as she hung her head out the window.
I could see her parents laughing as the bus pulled away. Geeze, I thought, Ruby's parents sure aren't anything like mine. My parents would have me chained to the house if they could. They had always been over protective. I had a hunch Ruby's parents were just the opposite, to the extreme.
Woodstock
The concert grounds was an indescribable scene! We had to walk at least three miles from where we parked to set up a comfortable place to watch the concert. The atmosphere was really happnin with an air of high anticipation. People were friendly and a sense of cooperation gushed over the crowd.
"So this is what half a million people look like," Martie announced in awe.
"Peace and love," Erin chanted in a daze, "That's what it's all about, peace and love!"
I don't know what was going through her head, but she was look'n starry eyed over something. Maybe the whole thing was too overwhelming for her. That was the first sign of trouble to come. Anyway, when things finally started to rock and roll, Richie Haven was first up to knock it out of the park with his rhythmic guitar and rich voice to the tune of "Freedom". I remember that song most of all, second to Jimmi's final number!
Ruby was feeling the music. She twirled around and around till she fell to the ground. I think she was catch'n some smoke in the air. Then Epi was feel'n it too. He started twirling Ruby around with her feet dangling in the air. He kept saying groovy, man, groovy! Next thing I knew, Ruby was being passed from person to person through the crowd. Epi stood there with a surprise look on his face as Ruby faded out of our sights! She just opened up and let it be. It was that free spirit of hers I envied so, but it was in high gear influenced by the free-lov'n mood all around us. I didn't know when or if we would see her again. The crowd was too big to go and try to find her. We all realized from then on we had to be careful in order to stay together.
Later, when Martie's favorite band was setting up for their show, her face lit up. She had a special thing for guitar genius Carl Santana. When they began playing "Black Magic Woman" Martie closed her eyes to take it all in. She swayed back and forth and mouthed the words. Carl Santana had magical fingers manipulating the guitar strings like he had electricity at the ends of them. Suddenly, Martie started walking away from us waving good-bye. We all yelled out for her to come back.
She blew us all a kiss and yelled, "We'll meet up again. Don't worry! I just gotta fly like a bird, man, peace!"
"Epi, what are we gonna do? Nell, do you have any ideas? What's goin on with everybody?" I lamented, "Hope Ruby and Martie are going to be alright."
Epi, Nell nor Erin had an answer. We all were in a lather over losing track of our friends.
"Look over there," Nell brought to our attention. It was Martie being passed around by the crowd like Ruby had been earlier. Black Magic Woman was still playing and it was as if she was in a trance. She was having a moment in time that would last forever in her memory. When Santana was through with all their amazing numbers, we headed for the food tents and again Nell pointed to something to get our attention. There was Martie bathing in the lake with a long haired hippy.
"Don't worry about her," Erin remarked, "She'll be just fine. Let her be."
We all took a deep breathe and hoped she would be okay. One thing we knew for certain, she was taking full advantage of the happening. Deep down I envied her too. Why couldn't I be more like her and Ruby? Everybody at Woodstock really was feeling peaceful and loving! I couldn't help wonder who was going to be next to let go, maybe even myself. I just wanted to see Jimmi and snap a few photos. I was determined to stick to my goal.
As it turned out, Erin was next to let herself feel completely free. While The Who played their melodious "See Me, Feel Me" she took it to heart. I watched her slowly walked away from Nell, Epi and I.
"Sorry man, this isn't my bag, gotta split. Meet you later at the peace buggy when its over," she spoke in a whispery tone as she drifted off.
I never knew her voice to change like that. Then she grabs this dude's flute and plays along with The Who. She wasn't half bad. The long haired hippy took a liking to her and they made the scene together. He gave her a shower and wrapped her in a blanket afterwards to to keep her warm. She really knew how to pick em. What a guy!
Now it was just Nell, Epi and I. We watched Roger Daltry, lead singer of The Who, with his curly mane, dance and sway on stage. He was eye candy for all the girls. The band's famous lead guitarist, Pete Townsend, jumped six feet in the air and beat up his guitar during the last number. What a rush, man!
Joe Cocker was up next. He sang his famous, "A Little Help from My Friends". The number bonded the three of us who were sticking together. We were really trippn to the music. Epi took off his paisley shirt and raised his arms high in the air while singing the tune. Nell and I joined in; Me with my dark rimmed glasses and Nell in her peasant blouse. I couldn't remember a time when I had felt that happy! I wanted it to last forever!
"I really love you guys, man," I expressed to Nell and Epi, surprising myself with unusual openness.
"Far out, man, we love you too," they both said back at the same time.
By the third day weariness was settling in, people slept wherever and whenever, some even on their cars. Hunger was taking its toll on those who were left out from the food shortage. Even Janis Joplin was feeling the hunger cravings. There was no way for organizers to predict a turn out of 500,000 people. When the people of Sullivan County heard about the food shortages, they gathered thousands of food donations to be airlifted to the site, including 10,000 sandwiches, water, fruit and canned goods. Peace activist "Wavy Gravy" and his hog farm collective helped out with food and non-traditional gentle security tactics. There were forty doctors flown in and medical tents set up for people who were sick or having bad trips from over drug use.
To name a few, we had heard uplifting performances from The Greatful Dead, Sly and the Family Stone, Country Joe, Arlo Guthry, Creedence Clear Water Revival, but not yet from Jimmi. I knew they would save him for last! I had my camera ready for the moment.
Nell couldn't hold out any longer. Epi and I saw her in her bibs without a blouse underneath, flashn the peace sign to two dudes in a trunk!
"Not you too, Nell," Epi called out to her. He was fond of innocent young Nell and felt protective of her. He borrowed a shirt from someone to cover her up. Later we saw her sitt'n on a blanket hold'n up one of the trunk dudes. Funny thing is, her hair was suddenly a shade or two darker. Epi just shook his head.
"We lost her Epi, she's too into that guy," I remarked.
"I suppose you're eventually gonna split too, Fossi," he replied, "You boy crazy gals have stars in your eyes."
"Naw," I told him, "I'm holdn out for Jimmi."
Jefferson Airplane woke us up that morning. Grace Slick sang "White Rabbit" describing what happens when you go into a psychedelic trip. When the rain came, regardless of chants from the crowd for "no rain", people had fun with it. For some, it was even a spiritual experience. Hell, in many ways, the entire three days was out of this world.
Well, it was finally my turn to let go, resulting from the effects of rain, mud splashing, Joan Baez singing "We Shall Overcome", and my eyes meeting with my own hairy, muddy, hippy guy! Epi caught me lockn lips with him. It was my first kiss and a groovy one, but that's all the further it went. I couldn't let anything keep me from my Jimmi, nor my Epi. I pushed hippy man away and ran to Epi. He was patient with me and forgave me for my moment of free love. I told him it would be okay with me if he let go, but he was too much of a nobleman to abandon any of us. It was near the end and we were prepared to hear the biggest and best of them!
On the trunk of a far out car, painted with the American Flag, Epi waited for me to snap off a few shots of the crowd. He didn't know it, but I snuck in a nice shot of him. I was fill'n the time for the final act. When Jimmi got on stage, the crowd let out a shattering roar that could be heard as far as the next town! It was electrifying. Epi and I danced and sang to the music. When Jimmi played "Foxy Lady", I tried to get as close as I could to catch a great shot. After fifty tries I finally got the one I knew would make history! Just when we thought we had experienced all the excitement, peace, love and cheering that was humanly possible, Jimmi came out with a final rendition of the National Anthem! It blew away Epi's mind. I was think'n about the girls and hoped they were hearing it too. Without a lot of backup from his band, he played the anthem mixing in sounds of artillery explosions with his guitar, a poignant message of our country's involvement in the Vietnam War. That's what the festival was all about, a peaceful anit-war demonstration.
When it was over, we headed for the peace buggy hoping to meet up with the girls. We thanked God when all three of them were there, even though they were hangin on to their new hippy boyfriends.
"Break it up, my lovely flower girls, we're headed for home," Epi announced.
Home was never the same after our peace, love happening. We all came away from it with a newly discovered independence, but at the same time, an appreciation for the comforts of home!!!

Don't you miss Hexdrix? I was just playing some Joan Baez the other day, what a voice. She played "We Shall Overcome" at the White House for MLK's B-day.
Oh Fossillady how I envy you...I too was a flower child in "those" days. I so wanted to go, but my son was sick and I had to stay home. But thanks for giving us that couldn't make it and had to wait for the MOVIE to live it...Great Pictures and your insight to the happenings. PEACE & LOVE to YOU!
What a lovely cool and hip hub on happy hippy time. I love it. The collection of pictures is rocking and fabulous and the story is very interesting.
I look forward to the happy hippy time in the future as well. Love, Peace and JOY! :) Katie
Oh, that was the grooviest outing we ever had. Will never-ever forget that one. Can’t believe you still remember how crazy I was about Santana’s music - and Black Magic Woman is still my favorite (at certain occasions). Oh my goodness, and Joe Cocker too! Not to talk about CCR! Hey, tonight! I see a bad moon rising! Traveling Band! Wow!
I can’t remember walking away from you guys... Must have been that joint I’ve tried (I promise that was the first and the last time!) One moment I was okay, the next moment my head was in the clouds and my feet nailed to the ground... Oh, goody-goody.... what were we talking about? Hahaha! I’m going to laugh myself a crawling insect....
Sorry, Foxy-Lady-Fossi, I can’t remember any detail... just remember I had a marvelous time out there. Wait, wait, I remember bathing with that guy with the... Oh my soul, if Epi didn’t drag me out of that water and carried me on his shoulder to Ruby’s bus.... Oh my word! Hahahaha! Epi was my knight in muddy armor!
Fossi, I wish you peace and love... and lots and lots of groovyness. BTW, I am still looking in vain for the song called ‘Woodstock’ – it was popular round about ’71.
At woodstock, love was a drug of choice, music was a message of peace, and war was illegal.;)
What memories! I actually still have my Woodstock album and remember every song! Good thing because the record is probably worn out even if I did have a way to play it. What an outta-site "trip" down memory lane and a well done story! Peace Fossi!
Far out hub! Don't fret about about being a square, your still cool in our eyes! Thanks for sharing.
OMG, Did this bring back memories. I'll never forget the days we spent at Woodstock. We were all so hip and groovy back then.......... Hey we still are, just a tad slower. I wonder if Epi has still got that car? Man that car could roll........You remember when they were passing me through the crowd, well, i saw our future President, in fact he gave me a little pat as they lifted me past, groovy Man. My favorite performer was Joe Cocker, still is. Thank's Fossi for taking me back to the good old days when we were young and passed out our flowers in the name of love and peace.
Love and Peace
....greatest hub of all time ...and not just because all of my favorite gal pals are here sharing these beautiful memories - because we are still here - together in the here and now - I have to literally run out the door and go to work Kathi - but please know I will return to this hub in the morning .... for some more good times and a closer look at a true hub classic!!!!

I loved the shower and you guys are the GREATEST. thanks so much for including me even though I'm the new guy in the neighborhood!! I'll never forget Woodstock now! I felt like I was there! the history of it and the music was great! loved it loved it loved it! thanks for including me, now I really have been there! voted uuuuuuuppppppppp! lol
Yes, Fossi, It was HE, but he didn't inhale!! Hee Haw
Yes, I was 1, but I would have gone with you all anyway!!! and I probably would have showered naked with all the other groovy babies - I would have been the hippest baby there (and still known all the words to all the songs including White Rabbit!) And still given Epi a run for his money! - Although I don't think you guys were much older than me were you??? :))) Love you all!!!
Nice and funny article that is well shared.
I give many attentions to this hub. I love music very much. Woodstock was a great music festival. I never saw this in person. But it's enough for me just read your hubs and saw stunning pictures here. All the video was great. Well done, my friend. I give my thumbs up for you and press all buttons here. God bless you.
Love and peace,
I had to come back to listen to Joe sing, 'A little help from my friends' Dig those stars on his boots. Groovy!!!
...well ... lol lol ... isn't ' 5 to 1 ' the name of a Doors song - yes it's true and not just a wonderful story like this ......'epi' does like the ratio of 5 beautiful sensitive intelligent women in his company - today is a good day to be a man - true , but more importantly it is a good day to have friends like you ....... Kathi thank you taking us all down this wonderful road of nostalgia - and as the Grateful Dead once sang - keep on 'truckin' ........
TIP TOP hub!the music selection FIRST RATE!Thanks for the trip down memory lane.
..man oh man I just returned from Africa and the white lions on a safari with the ladies .... now I'm trippin' to Woodstock with the ladies once again ....please someone don't wake me up from this beautiful dream that I'm enjoying too much .....
Totally awesome man. THanks for the groovy hub.
Fossi this is the ?? time I'm here - I enjoy the comments just as much as the hub and music.
I was 12 in '96 - but then I was not yet into hippy stuff. But Woodstuck and all those bands hit me a year later to influence me forever after.
This is truly an awesome hub, my cherry!
Woodstock was a groovy joint and I'm sure it made a deep impact and changed the attutudes towards wars of many people.
I wish I could remember all the slang we used. I can only remember groovy, joint, peace my mate, man, cherry....
What about getting more in the forums and add them to this groovy hub of yours?
Fossillady, I'll try to get some more of those slang words/phrases for this hub of yours. Will email them to you. I'm waving you a peace sign :)))
...I am so very glad Kathi that you are able to meet so many nice interesting people here .....well, like yourself! Have a great Sunday - we're inching our way into spring and I can hardly wait for your next photographic essay - have you hooked up with quiet Doug lately?

Rock On Girl((((>>>>>>>>>>>>>>
Fossi, I have a feeling only she knows and i bet her lips are sealed tighter than Martie's jeans. woo hoo !!
Hippy Dippy hee
Everyone seems to have their own views and opinions about woodstock. I think it seems pretty coo. This was fun to read.
You hippy girls are the girls for Micky Dee! I love this. Thank you Fossillady!
Look at that score 80, Woopie!!! Next time we 'gotta bring Micky, and i just heard from Granny's House and she wants to go too. Groovy
We 'gotta get helmets so we can ride into the wind.
WHeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee
Woodstock was ever so slightly before my time. I was old enough to watch the "hippie generation", too young to be an actual part of it. The photos are great and really depict what I do remember about that very special and unusual era. Thanks for sharing a groovy time.
This is epic! although I didn't get all the in-jokes its breezy, psychedelic read and I wanted to join in on the hippy hippy shake. I am jealous the Epi-man got to be in with all the groovy ladies. Maybe if we do a Glastonbury run, I'll get to be in on the fun! awesome, Man! Peace.
Here's an update!! These are the people who want to go on our next adventure, Granny's House- Juliet Cristie-
Erin-Fossi- Martie- Ruby- Nell- Epi- Micky- Docmo
Groovy Man!!!!!!!
Yay! I am in. This is way too Groovy.
When I went to Med school I rode a Royal Enfield Motorbike ( Kind of a British Harley) and then had a sleek Japanese Kawasaki which was customised in metallic black with Chinese calligraphy... I'll bring my bike too and would love to give a ride if the ladies promise to hold on tight ;-) Easy Rider!
Lordy, Fossi don't tell Martie, You know she'll take all the Guys and leave us on the Side of the road without our Harley's, NOT GROOVY, HEHEHEHEHEHEHEHEHEHEHEHEHE
...the guy's flute?????? Gee I don't think I want to go there on that one - lol lol - well just checking in with you Kathi on a Saturday night around midnight and I always like to revisit the classics - and look at the all-star line-up here and I don't mean the musicians - lol lol
p.s. - there's a gorgeous full moon tonight over the lake of Erie - maybe you can get a picture? or tomorrow night - also I sent you a card about a week ago - maybe you should check your spam mail - sometimes they end up in there!
A Glastonbury run? Oh can you dig THAT happening? Sure will be a heluva gas! Hey, in anticipation I plea not-guilty for anything I’m going to do at that scene.... Just know I can’t be held responsible for anything I do in a knee-deep slurry in front of a pyramid stage
Or
to
a
Dude on a sleek Japanese Kawasaki bike....
Oh man oh man.....
Mate, you better handcuff me to the nearest pole...
This time I will not go for the flutes but for the bassoons.... and I may get rid of all my threads...Hee-haw.... peace out!
Oh! I have a groovy idea – Why not let Docmo take care of me :)))) Make him my bodyguard.... :))) Come on! Don’t be like that. I promise I will not seduce him. (Did I use the word promise? Oh my, I should have said ‘I will try my very best’, for you know I’m not a drag but a flower girl! Lalalala! You all dig it, don’t you?)
Fossi, I’ve got to split now.... I desperately need a scarf and a crash.... Can’t wait to be with you all again. Man, oh man we will rock... Peace out! I’m waving you the sign ‘V’
Fossi, I heard it through the grape line that Martie is going to try to HANG OUT with Docmo. She said something like she wanted to CRASH at his PAD and something about having a GAS time and i don't think she means flatuulence. I think she really DIGS him. I think she will make the words HANG LOOSE have a new meaning, then she said they would SPLIT the SCENE and i don't think she was thinking about a banana split. I see above that she's wanting Docmo all by herself. I heard through the grapevine that he's a Doctor and i'm thinking i might need medical service when we make our next adventure, after all my 'ritis is acting up 'agin. Well i 'dun 'tole you all i 'knowed so keep a 'eyeball out, she's slick as 'churned butter. That word SLICK rings a bell, oh well i 'reck'n i 'tole you 'nuf, Love you girlfriend
@ Ruby – What a great-great laugh you’ve given me in here, Lady Funny! Hahahaha! Going to laugh for the rest of the day.
@ Fossillady – Howzit! Let’s make a deal – You and Ruby take Docmo, I’ll take Epi and Micky. Lalalala! She Loves You, ye-ye-ye.....
Lordy, i reckon there 'ain't noth'n Martie won't do 'fur a man. She's 'rite pitiful, so we'll let her have her way. We'll take the 'leavin's. Ruby don't take your love to town, Love's gona live here again, Rainy night in Georgia, Born to lose. LaLaLa
Crazy Man, OOPS, I see a white coat coming, Funny , looks like they got a straight jacket, wonder what 'fur?
Ladies, Ladies, Ladies! I leave here for a moment and I am being divvied up! What does a man do?
Martie's 'body' guard...does it need guarding? I am game as long as her flute grabbing skills are in full force! There is always a place for her on my pillion.
Or to be shared between the two delectable forces of Ruby and Fossi? ooh la la.
the heady combination of the mud slurry, groovy music, nekkid swims in the lake is far out man.
BTW did Martie mention handcuffs? I think I need to lie down.... phew.
I think I am gonna turn all Marvin Gaye and sing ' Lets get it on...'
I've been really tryin', baby
Tryin' to hold back this feelin' for so long
And if you feel like I feel, baby
Then come on, oh, come on
Whoo, let's get it on
Ah, babe, let's get it on
Let's love, baby
Let's get it on, sugar
Let's get it on
Whoo-ooh-ooh
Hahahaha! I'm laughing myself to tears down here! Must safe my reputation now {before Epi and Micky drop me like a too hot potato}- I promise I will behave myself. I will act my age. I will grab neither flutes nor bassoons. I will not get rid of my threads. I will not dive into any knee-deep or deeper slurry or water. I will just be a sweet, meek and humble flowergirl.
On ONE condition - Docmo must give me a ride on his sleek Japanese Kawasaki bike. At least 10 miles.
.... and she loves you ye-ye-ye....
:)
HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHHAHAHAHAHAHHH LOLOLOLOL I can't stop. I need HELP, Doctor, Doctor, give me the news, Which one are you gonna choose??&^%$#@()_+
Love all these comments, No I was not around yet, If I could time travel and go back to a place and time I have never experienced it would be wood stock. What a magical mysterious time for those of us who can only imagine by listening to your stories.
:) Katie
This Hub is one of the best I have ever seen. Your words evoke the Woodstock experience better than any writing I have read. I was invited to Woodstock—and turned down the invitation!!! Imagine my remorse.
The photographs you chose are utterly incredibly beautiful. I was a professional musician for over 20 years with my band, White Summer. Besides our own music—five albums worth—we played 1000 classic rock songs mostly from this era.
Thank you for a wonderful journey.
We played locally from 1970 to 1979, including at Babe's, the Berrien County Fair, all the high schools in the area, Shadowland, House of David—and we traveled too.
In 1980 we went on the road for twelve years except for two times we came home for a couple year break. During those breaks we played at Chief's, Sweet Cherry Resort, Solitaires, Venetian Festival, et al.
We had a tremendous blind guitar player in the band for 16 years. If you heard us, you would remember him I think.
I have written half a dozen Hubs about the band, with videos of our music. Your son might like some of it.
"New York State Throughway is closed Man --- Lotta freaks!!"
I love Woodstock --- The Movie and Jimi is an absolute hero of mine ... the set he played was just incredible. Next time I watch I will be looking out for you, just try to find the prettiest girl in whole crowd :-)
' Dat burn.. I leave the Hippy page and you ' dun got two ' feller's. All kidding aside.. this is the best hub.. You have what it takes to really highlight a time in history.. Your pictures.. your videos.. Great fun!!!
Love ya
Fantastic! I had to miss it but you brought back a lot of memories. Peace and Love to you also.
Foss, fantastic. I was too young to go but some of my friends did go. I was able to go to the one at Watkins Glen NY. It is said there were more peeps there then at Woodstock. Woodstock was the first though.
Even though you did not really go you would never know it from this fantastic piece of fiction.
Loved it. You are a great writer and now one of my favs.
peace
Tina
Voted up and awesome! I sooooo wish I could've gone to Woodstock at least once! I would've loved to have seen Jimmi and Janis! Janis is one of my all-time favorites, though. This is very well-written and entertaining. Great job!
You were there! You lucky lady! I watched the movie and it looked totally awesome. Thanks for sharing such a gem
You got me there! Told it so convincingly.
Good hub, even better it was all in fun. I was in the military when it took place but I saw a lot of these bands before and after Woodstock. Mt first concert was The Beatles in '66 and I did get to see The Who before '69 when they were still destroying their equipment during the encore (My Generation). I did a hub about them, I got to see them in 4 decades. Was lucky enough to see Janis a couple of times also. Nice work! Peace!! Tom
Well I missed most...well.. all the hippie stuff but I loved what came out of it and I still live the songs in my poems, or many anyway. I had a brother with a ponytail to his butt way past Hippie time but I think Willie Nelson did too didn't he? If there is a soul on earth that loved or loves music more than me I would like to meet them.
when mckbirdbks is late for a party, he is late for a party
Hello, Fossillady, this was 'far out' and I LOVED every word, photo and memory that YOU refired in my heart. I had a drive-in theater in my small town in 1970, I sat with a buddy, and one other car, in the pouring rain, to wath the movie, Woodstock. How I loved Jimi. Again, thank you. And I am following you now. Bless you.
